Conductive Paints and Coatings

Conductive paints and coatings improve the protection of electronic equipment from electromagnetic interference (EMI). They create a tough layer that conducts electricity and can even stop static electricity from building up. Designing this into the equipment’s casing is also crucial to ensure it is well-shielded.

Nowadays, plastic is often used because it is lightweight, portable, attractive, and cost-effective. However, plastic does not protect the equipment from interference, meaning it could become damaged. ‘Metallizing’ is a method of applying a metallic coating to the plastic, which provides protection from EMI and ensures that the equipment meets EMC compliance.

Conductive colloids are metal loaded resin based materials that are spray applied. The metal is the reflective or absorbent barrier to the RFI and EMI and normally takes the form of layers of metal flakes or granules.

Limitless Shielding has a range of paints with various powder fillers and resin/elastomer binders to suit most applications and finishes. The most popular materials being Nickel, Copper, Copper hybrid, Silver hybrid and Silver.
